Regular customers of Pequeno Mundo delight in the uniqueness, charm and delicious French cuisine of this little restaurant tucked away down a country road in Almancil. In 1999, co-owners Joaquim Vilela and Guy Doré transformed an old Algarvian quinta into a very special dining experience that remains popular season upon season.
The ambiance of Pequeno Mundo has the feel of a small French Provençal maison in an Algarvian setting. On warm evenings, diners can choose tables on the patio, on the terrace or in two cozy dining rooms. Upon arrival, guests are invited to have an aperitif by the fireplace. Portuguese antiques add a touch of drama and panache to the subtle natural tones of the classic décor.
Pequeno Mundo offers a menu of largely French cuisine of Chef Doré. Diners are so pleased with the dishes that Chef Doré has done very little tinkering with the menu. Therefore, classic favorites include: crispy prawns, mussel soup, veal filets with mushrooms and Port wine, prawns with mango curry, sea bream Provençal and Chateaubriant with Bernaise sauce. For dessert, the raspberry croustillant and chocolate fondant on vanilla custard are consistently requested.
After dinner, enjoy a glass of Port from the well-stocked wine cellar, or a taste of cognac from one of the Algarve’s best whisky collections.
Restaurant Pequeno Mundo is awarded 3 Red Forks from Michelin.
Pequeno Mundo is an ideal place for a quiet business dinner, romantic evening or a splendid dining experience among friends. For more information, visit the Pequeno Mundo website.
